Our Hotel Vernagt is located directly above the Vernagt reservoir and is an ideal starting point for anglers.
According to the Meran Fishing Association, the reservoir is stocked with the following fish species:

According to the Meran Fishing Association, the reservoir is stocked with the following fish species:

  • Marbled trout and hybrids (cross marbled trout/brown trout) (MF) size 35cm
  • Brown trout (BF) small size 25cm
  • Rainbow trout (RF) small size 25cm
  • Brook trout (BS) small size 25cm
  • Grayling (A) protected all year round
  • Arctic char (BS) small size 25cm
  • Lake trout (SF) small size 27cm

Please note:

The prerequisite for purchasing a day ticket in South Tyrol is the Italian state fishing license. From 2026 the license can be bought online
